Coast to Coast - 2013
Moday 3rd June 2013
Peter Dowen persuaded 8 other auld codgers to do the C2C from Whitehaven to Sunderland on 3 June 2013. Transport is arranged to take the team from Durham to Whitehaven on the morning of the 3 June.
Day 1 The afternoon saw us doing a gentle 17 miles to our first pub stop in Loweswater.
Day 2 had us travelling 27 miles to Greystoke (to the next pub!). Our support team joined us on this day to pick up any strays and generally look after our well being. Maureen Dowen organised this with other wives from the team.
Day 3 also 27 miles, travelling to Alston, over the Hartside Pass ( I think that’s a hill)
Day 4 was probably our most gruelling day, with a 33 mile ride, up some of the biggest hills on the route. This took us to The Manor House Inn near Castleside (another pub) for our last rest before the final run into Sunderland, on 7 June.
The team was Peter Dowen, Steve Luard, Michael French, Phillip Lowes, Stuart Beattie, William Hunter, Nick Stott, David Thompson and David Ferguson

Preston Guild Marathon & Half Marathon
Sunday, 28 October 2012
Viewed by many as ‘the one not to miss’, the Guild Marathon and Half Marathon took place on Sunday 28 October 2012. A great course has been carefully planned for Preston’s first ever marathon starting and finishing in the city centre.
The event included a Mini Marathon (aprox 4-5k) for young people aged 11-17, along with street races for younger children organised through local schools.
The route took in the outlying areas of Penwortham, Cottam, Lea Town, Salwick and Treales, before returning to the city centre. Roads will be closed to accommodate the route and the expected high turn-out.
